Farming still dangerous

Farming remains one of the most dangerous professions.

Minnesota Safety Council president Paul Aasen says nearly one-third of all workplace deaths in Minnesota happen on the farm…

Aasen1                                            (:19) “…on the farm.”

He calls those statistics disturbing, but tells Brownfield it’s important to talk about as harvest nears…

Aasen2                                            (:19) “…in your safety.”

The Health and Safety Authority says the fatality rate in agriculture is much higher than any other economic sector.

Statistics show the main causes of death involve farm vehicles and other equipment.

Brownfield interviewed Aasen at Farmfest last month.
