Favorable early harvest weather outlook

Weather conditions look favorable for many farmers over the next two weeks.

Dan Collins is a meteorologist with the Climate Prediction Center and says the Midwest should experience warm and generally dry conditions into the latter half of September.

“Out 5, 6 days and longer the outlook suggests that it will remain above normal through that period. A pretty confident outlook for above normal temperatures.”

He tells Brownfield there are chances for precipitation over the western Corn Belt.

“Broadly in western parts of the Midwest, west of the Mississippi, the outlook is for above normal precipitation.”

Collins says he is concerned about drought conditions worsening in Eastern Corn Belt states like Indiana and Ohio.
