Females in Food turns 5
A networking organization is working to close the gender gap in leadership positions throughout the food supply chain.
Females in Food President Alyssa Badger tells Brownfield, “Eighty percent of food buying decisions globally are made by women, but only 24 percent of senior leader positions in our industry are held by women .”
“Where we like to focus is on educating and empowering women to feel confident in applying for those roles.”
She says the group also helps women gain a deeper understanding of niche segments in the sector while building professional bridges.
“Community is power and I think more women need to embrace that,” Badger encourages. “We thrive when we support each other, when we share resources, and when we open doors for one another.”
She says since Females in Food was established in 2019, the organization has become a global community with in-person and virtual resources to support career advancement.
