Thousands of FFA members are volunteering at 27 different locations throughout the Indianapolis area during the National FFA Organization’s Days of Service.

Logan Everett coordinates the program and hopes students take advantage of serving in their local communities.

“We want to provide them with the opportunity to feel valued in the service that they’re doing and have a really positive service experience, so that they can be inspired to take it back home,” she says.

She says there are about 13,000 service hours put in throughout the convention. For example…

“This year we are weaving about 4,000 woven potholders and those potholders will be donated to Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana,” she says.

Clifton Central, Illinois senior Hailey Vaughn tells Brownfield she’s taking her experiences back to her home chapter.

“Hopefully the leadership skills that I possess can show my chapter the importance of what FFA means to everyone in our community,” she says.

Other Days of Service activities include volunteering onsite at various Indianapolis non-profits, planting tulips at Newfields, or participating in the Evening Service Activity. This year’s activity allows FFA members to build Celebration boxes, which will support a birthday or a congratulations day for individuals in the Indianapolis community who might not have the means to celebrate.
