Ohio FFA’s state vice president at large says recent overseas travel helped expand her understanding of global ag practices.
Gracie Sprague participated in this year’s International Leadership Seminar for State Officers.
“When we look at ag practices from different from America, a lot of time we think that different means bad,” she says, “Every state officer really went into it with an open mind, so we got to learn a lot and even got to take some things home with us.”
She tells Brownfield she gained a new perspective on international markets and ag systems.
“I raise pigs, sheep, and goats at home, so I enjoyed seeing their livestock production and the differences from America,” she says. “We learned how much they value animal welfare and how serious they are about not putting any stress on their cattle. It’s just so much of a different process.”
Sprague says it’s important to learn about all areas of agriculture and plans to take her experiences into her future career.
