Firm farmland values going into 2025

Farmland values in the Upper Midwest are generally firm going into 2025.

Kasey Maypark, an appraiser for Compeer Financial, covers northwestern Wisconsin.

“Cropland has stayed on the stronger side in my area, there have not been a ton of sales. I’m sure that’s pretty common in a lot of the areas that we cover. There’s just not a whole lot available, and when it comes available it goes fast.”

She tells Brownfield the market is steady despite low commodity prices and high interest rates, but buyers and sellers might be getting more apprehensive.

“People holding off and waiting to see what interest rates are going to do. Milk prices have also (had) an impact in my area, and grain prices might pose a little bit of an issue coming into the year.”

She says recreational land values have strengthened considerably this year.

Maypark made these comments during an upcoming Compeer Financial appraisal podcast, a content partnership with Brownfield Ag News.
