Former U.S. Ag Secretary Yeutter dies

Former U.S. Agriculture Secretary Clayton Yeutter died Saturday.  Yeutter, a native Nebraskan, served as USDA secretary from 1989 to 1991 in the first Bush administration.  Yeutter was 86 and battled cancer for several years, but continued promoting trade and agriculture.

Yeutter’s government service included U.S. trade representative from 1985 to 1988 and positions as Assistant USDA Secretary dating back to the early 70s.  He was also president and CEO of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
