FSA disaster assistance available in 10 more Wisconsin counties

Farmers in some northern Wisconsin counties are now eligible for USDA disaster assistance.  USDA’s Wayne Maloney says excessive rainfall and flooding occurred in Rusk and Sawyer counties between April and October.

Those farmers and farmers in eight adjacent counties now qualify for FSA’S emergency loan programs.  Farmers have eight months to apply for loans to help cover part of their actual losses.

Maloney says there are other FSA programs that farmers might qualify for, even without a disaster declaration.  He advises farmers to consult with their local FSA office.

The counties eligible for assistance are Rusk and Sawyer, plus Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Chippewa, Douglas, Price, Taylor, and Washburn.  Douglas County was already declared eligible for FSA assistance earlier in December.
