FSA urges farmers to act early when considering loan programs
The executive director of the Illinois Farm Service Agency says many farmers are turning to the agency’s various loan programs to help weather the down ag economy.
William Graff says the winter loan season has been busy.
“We have direct farm loans, farm ownership loans, beginning farmers loans, and young farmer loans.” He says, “We have loan guarantees. We have the marketing assistance loans, and the farm storage facility loan program.”
He tells Brownfield, “Don’t wait on that.” He says, “If you think you’re gonna have to need to access one of these direct or the guaranteed farm loan program, make an appointment, come in, and talk to us right away.”
Graff says producers should ensure their farm records are up to date with the agency to make the loan process as smooth as possible.
