FSIS says testing confirms meat supply is safe

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says beef muscle sampling of cull dairy cows confirms that the meat supply is safe.  

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service analyzed samples from 109 cull dairy cows using PCR tests to determine the presence of the virus. 108 of the 109 samples tested negative for viral particles. Viral particles were detected on May 24th in tissue samples, including the diaphragm muscle from one cow.   

No meat from these dairy cattle entered the food supply. 

FSIS says there are multiple safeguards in place to protect consumers. 

  • FSSAI should make it mandatory for every food manufacturer to do food tests on a weekly or monthly basis because in recent times many food manufacturers are used chemicals in their food for increase test and shelf life of products. doing a test of food is too costly because in India many best testing labs like Equinox Labs do tests at minimum price and they help to follow the FSSAI guidelines.
