Gains in the soybean market
An ag economist says the soybean market has seen some recent strength.
University of Missouri’s Ben Brown says, “It was driven partially due to a delay in any type of tariff announcements. I think that helped the market move a little bit higher with the possibility of working out a deal before imposing tariffs.”
He tells Brownfield weather concerns in South America last week was another factor. “The forecast was still looking very dry for South America, especially later planted soybeans that still have some growth to them.”
Soybean futures were sharply higher Wednesday amid strong demand for U.S. ag products.
Brown made his comments during the most recent Weekly Commodity Market Update.
