Giving back through the Drive to Feed Kids
Missouri FFA members are at the Missouri State Fair for a day of service as part of the Drive to Feed Kids.
Kristin Waters with the Norborne FFA Chapter says it’s the second time she’s packed meals for Missouri FFA’s day of service.
“One of the parts of our FFA motto is living to serve and this is exactly what that motto represents.”
Ashley McCarty with Missouri Farmers Care says “900 FFA members are coming to the state fair this week to pack more than 175,000 meals.”
And the meals will be distributed to food pantries. Feeding Missouri’s Chris Baker says rural counties are impacted by food insecurity.
“A lot of times our disposition is to think about big cities, but that’s not the case. There are several counties in the state, rural counties, where 1 in 3 children are impacted by food insecurity.”
Attendees at the Missouri State Fair can also participate in the Drive to Feed Kids by donating canned food at the gate of the fairgrounds today.
