Giving the gift of the blue jacket
Donors have helped provide more than 18,000 blue jackets to FFA members in need through the National FFA Organization’s Give the Gift of Blue program.
President of the Catawba Ridge FFA chapter in South Carolina Giana Hilts is one of those recipients.
“To get that fully paid for through the gift of the blue program is amazing, and also it’s just so amazing to see all of the unity and how people come together,” she says.
Senior Jocelyn Salinas tells Brownfield their school recently established its own FFA chapter.
“I’m excited to meet new people and see all of the jackets,” she says. “It’s so exciting to see how many people come together for this one convention. The knowledge that I’m going to bring back is amazing, because this is our first experience here.”
The Gift of Blue program began in 2014 and a donation of $85 provides a member with a jacket and tie or scarf.
From the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, I’m Erin Anderson, for Brownfield.
