Global Dairy Trade index down Tuesday

Prices for dairy products fell Tuesday on the Global Dairy Trading platform.  The index was down 2.6% with Cheddar cheese taking the biggest fall.

Cheddar cheese was down 10.2% to $4,052 a metric ton, or $1.83 per pound.

Anhydrous milk fat prices were down 3.8% to $5,150 a metric ton, or $2.33 per pound.

Skim milk powder fell 3.5% to $2,648 a ton or $1.20 per pound.

Whole milk powder was down 1.5% to $2,228 per ton or $1.01 per pound.

Butter prices fell 3% to $4,748 per ton or $2.15 per pound.

Buttermilk powder and lactose were not available during Tuesday’s trading event and sweet whey powder was not offered.

There were 148 participating bidders in Tuesday’s trading event.  Overall, 26,795 metric tons of dairy products were sold in sixteen rounds of bidding.
