Global Dairy Trade Index holds steady

There was no change in the Global Dairy Trade Index in Tuesday’s trading session.  Price gains for butter, cheese, and whole milk powder offset losses for skim milk powder and anhydrous milk fat.

The biggest gain was in the Mozzarella cheese market, where prices rose 5.1%.

There were 111 winning bidders in 18 rounds of bidding, selling a total of 19,540 metric tons of dairy products.

The prices:

Mozzarella cheese was up 5.1% to $4,704 per metric ton or $2.13 per pound.

Butter was up 1.1% to $7,667 per metric ton or $3.47 per pound.

Cheddar cheese was up 1.0% to $4,976 per metric ton or $2.25 per pound.

Lactose was up 0.5% to $1,165 per metric ton or $0.52 per pound.

Whole milk powder was up 0.2% to $4,052 per metric ton or $1.83 per pound.

Skim milk powder was down 0.4% to $2,729 per metric ton or $1.23 per pound.

Anhydrous milk fat was down 1.8% to $6,561 per metric ton or $2.97 per pound.

Butter milk powder was not available in Tuesday’s trading session.
