Global Dairy Trade Index unchanged Tuesday

There was no change in the Global Dairy Trade index in Tuesday’s trading session, as the average dairy product price remained at $3,479 a metric ton.

Price increases for butter and anhydrous milk fat offset losses by Cheddar cheese and skim milk powder.

Butter prices were up 5.5% to $5,379 dollars per metric ton or $2.43 per pound.

Anhydrous milk fat was up half of a percent to $4,758 per ton or $2.15 per pound.

Cheddar cheese prices dropped 3.3% to $4,533 a metric ton or $2.05 per pound. 

Skim milk powder fell 2.3% to $2,667 per ton or $1.20 per pound.

More than half of Tuesday’s trading involved whole milk powder, with no change in price at $3,172 per ton or $1.43 per pound.

Buttermilk powder and lactose were not offered.  There were 103 winning bidders purchasing 20,372 metric tons of dairy products in 19 bidding rounds during Tuesday’s trading session.
