Global Dairy Trade index up Tuesday 

The Global Dairy Trade index rose 1.4% in Tuesday’s trading event.   

The market saw price increases for whole milk powder, skim milk powder, Cheddar cheese, and butter.  Values for Mozzarella, Lactose, and anhydrous milk fat all fell. 

The biggest gain was in whole milk powder, which rose 5% to $3,988 per metric ton, or $1.89 per pound. 

Cheddar cheese was up 2.8% to $4,846 per metric ton or $2.21 per pound. 

Butter prices went up 2.2% to $6,984 per metric ton or $3.16 per pound. 

Skim milk powder rose 2% to $2,729 per metric ton or $1.26 per pound. 

Mozzarella cheese was down 0.3% to $4,161 per metric ton or $1.88 per pound. 

Lactose values fell 0.8% to $893 per metric ton or $0.40 per pound. 

The value of anhydrous milk fat fell 7.8% to $6,616 per metric ton, or $3.00 per pound. 

One hundred twenty-nine winning bidders purchased 27,785 metric tons of dairy products in 19 bidding rounds Tuesday.
