Good start to 2025 for ethanol exports
U.S. ethanol exports started 2025 on a strong note.
The Renewable Fuels Association says 198.1 million gallons of ethanol were exported in January, a nine-month high and an increase of 2% from December.
Canada claimed the top spot for the 46th consecutive month and movement to India was a four-year high, with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Colombia rounding out the top five. Brazil took in a nine-month high, despite their ongoing tariffs on ethanol imports from the U.S.
The U.S. imported 1.7 million gallons of fuel alcohol and 12.5 million gallons of industrial ethanol, most of that from Brazil.
Exports of distillers dried grains with solubles were a 21-month low at 811,480 tons, falling 24% on the month, as greater movement to several key customers was canceled out by slower demand from some of the usual buyers.
Export demand is influenced by a number of factors, including the value of the dollar and geopolitical relationships.
