Governor Parson proclaims May Beef Month

May is Beef Month. Missouri Governor Mike Parson made it official Tuesday at the Kingsville Livestock Auction.

As a cattleman, Governor Parson says he takes pride in personally presenting the May Beef Month Proclamation.

“It’s good, I think, just to realize how big agriculture is for the state of Missouri and what it means to us as the number one industry in the state,” Governor Parson told Brownfield Ag News following the proclamation at the livestock auction market. “It’s always good to be out promoting.”

The occasion brings back memories for Bobby Simpson, president of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, of when his mother was involved in the cattle organization.

“I remember going every year up to the governor’s office to get this proclamation signed by the governor,” Simpson told Brownfield, “so it’s a real honor for me to be here today and see this again.”
