Grass conditions better than average for most of Missouri
Pasture conditions may vary throughout cattle country, but for much of Missouri, conditions are better than average for this time of year. Tony Hancock with the Missouri Department of Agriculture says, “We had a little bit of sunshine following the heavy rains, and the grass is really shot up.”
According to the latest Crop Report from the USDA, 69 percent of pastures in the state are rated good to excellent.
He tells Brownfield, “We haven’t seen anyone wrapping any hay to make haylage yet, but probably if we could get another week of warm weather, they’ll be in the field.”
Hay stocks in the state are 98 percent adequate to surplus.
