Grassley concerned about ongoing biodiesel plant shutdowns

A number of biodiesel plants remain idled across Iowa and a U.S. Senator says he’s concerned about the pause in production.
“The Biden administration screwed the whole industry and forced these shutdowns,” Chuck Grassley said Tuesday morning.
The Iowa Republican says the plants stopped production after the blenders tax credit ended December 31st. He says the Trump administration has an opportunity to get the plants back online.
“We were stuck at 3.1 billion gallons per year for three years,” the senator said. “We want to get that up to 5.2 billion gallons, RVOs, under this new administration.”
Grassley tells Brownfield, “We have that capacity to open these plants up. It’s very important that we start talking about that and lobbying that with the EPA.”
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association recently said it hopes the shutdowns are temporary and aren’t made permanent.
