Grassley reacts to reports House GOP is considering one-bill budget reconciliation process
Republicans in the U.S. House are reportedly considering a one-bill budget reconciliation process that would include tax and spending cuts, border security funding, and energy development.
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley tells Brownfield the Senate Republican Caucus would prefer two bills.
“And the reason we should have two bills is there was such a mandate in the election that we ought to show that the President can deliver very quickly, or Congress can deliver very quickly, to carry out the President’s mandate that he got in the last election.”
The Iowa Republican says with the majority in the House and Senate, his party wants to build credibility in the new Congress.
“We think that we ought to show some quick victories to lend credibility to the fact that we promised to deliver.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson recently said President-elect Trump wants Republicans to pass a single reconciliation bill that addresses his priorities.
