Grassley says summertime E15 waiver is good news

The senior U.S. Senator from Iowa says the Trump administration’s fuel waiver allowing nationwide sales of E-15 during the summer months is good news. But Chuck Grassley says he hopes this is the last year a waiver will be needed. “Because I hope a bill that I co-sponsored, a bipartisan bill that would allow E15 sales year-round and nationwide, that would pass,” he says.

He tells Brownfield that getting the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act passed this year won’t be easy.

Grassley says he’s optimistic it can get done because of the U.S. EPA’s decision, which allows eight Midwestern states: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, to sell E-15 year-round. “Because right now, if we didn’t have this waiver from the President, they’d have to have one mixture for the 42 states, and then a different mixture for the eight states that have a Governor’s waiver,” he says.
