Grassley seeks transparency with upcoming MAHA report

Ag stakeholders are anxiously awaiting a report from the Make America Healthy Again Commission.

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says in meetings with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ahead of his confirmation hearing, Kennedy assured him he was supportive of farmers using tools like pesticides and GMO’s.

“Secretary Kennedy also committed to what he called ‘radical transparency’ at HHS under his watch. But I’ve heard from a lot of stakeholders that the creation of this MAHA report has lacked transparency.”

Grassley says the report could be released as soon as this week, and several questions need to be answered.

“Has Senator Kennedy and staff met with food and agriculture stakeholders, or only environmental groups? If so, which ones?”

The Iowa Republican says he also wants to know if USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and EPA administrator Lee Zeldin have been consulted in developing the MAHA report, and whether the MAHA Commission has been following sound science.
