Growing demand for U.S. red meat for nearly 50 years
A continued focus on market diversification.
The new chairman of USMEF says for nearly 50 years the organization has been committed to diversifying export markets for U.S. red meat products.
Jay Theiler tells Brownfield there is a lot of growth potential in new markets. “The continent of Africa, central and South America,” he says. “These take investments. We start building those relationships now and building those relationships now, it will yield results into the future.”
He says the continued trade disruption with China makes market development even more important. “A lot of these countries don’t have a real robust logistics and transportation system,” he says. “You begin at the very basics and you build up from there over time as the infrastructure grows. You grow with that market.”
Theiler says Colombia is a perfect example of how USMEF works to develop and fortify diverse markets.
USMEF will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2026.
