Growing Ohio’s ethanol industry
An ethanol specialist says ethanol provides benefits to farmers and consumers.
Brad Moffit with Ohio Corn and Wheat says work continues to increase access to ethanol.
“It’s a better fuel,” he says. “It’s higher octane. For the retail customer in Ohio, it runs anywhere from $0.05 to $0.20 cheaper than regular. Again, it’s higher octane and it costs less. To me, that’s a no brainer.”
He tells Brownfield expanding E15 benefits the state’s farmers.
“Ohio and the other corn states exports a lot of ethanol to Canada,” he says. “It’s our number one customer followed by Brazil.”
Moffit says the more U.S. corn products that are exported, the better it is for the farmer’s bottom line.
