Growth Energy CEO says SAF production could provide long-term support for U.S. farmers

The CEO of Growth Energy says expanding domestic sustainable aviation fuel production could help support the down ag economy.

Emily Skor says growth in the low-carbon fuel market could help boost corn demand.

“We are one of the few commodities that has the volume to be able to satisfy the needs of that market,” she says.

She tells Brownfield the extension of the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a good start, but, “We should be paying farmers more down the road for every bushel of low carbon we purchase. The next step on the policy front is making sure that the Treasury Department connects the dots, so that we give full credit to farmer innovation. That’s going to be what’s most important in terms of driving support.”

Skor says introducing higher blends of ethanol into SAF production could provide lasting market support for the fuel in the future.
