Growth Energy submits legal brief: don’t overlook biofuels

Growth Energy has filed an amicus brief in a U.S. Court of Appeals case challenging the EPA’s tailpipe emissions rule.

Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Chris Bliley tells Brownfield there’s concern the emissions rule favors electric vehicles and overlooks the benefits of lower carbon biofuels.

“Even mid-level and high-level blends with hybrids and plug-in hybrids have shown substantial reductions in emissions. We think that’s been completely overlooked and so we weighed in with the court accordingly.”

Growth Energy’s brief says when compared with petroleum, corn ethanol emits only half as much greenhouse gases and cellulosic ethanol emits even less. Read more.

EPA’s tailpipe emissions rule is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in vehicles produced in 2027 and later.
