Harvest advancing in north Iowa

Harvest is advancing across northern Iowa.

Chris Edgington grows corn and soybeans near St. Ansgar.

“Beans are done in our area for the most part. There are a few fields that guys let be because they got so dry so they just kind of let them be. And now they’ve come back and they’re working on them. But corn is moving right along.”

He tells Brownfield there’s a wide range of yields.

“I know of fields that went in the low 20’s into the upper 60’s on soybeans. And there’s corn that’s ranged anywhere from under 100, especially in Mitchell County, to fields that are making over 200.”

Edgington says corn harvest in his area should be 75 to 80 percent done by the middle of next week.
