Harvest almost complete in Minnesota

Harvest is nearing the end in Minnesota.

USDA’s latest weekly crop report says corn harvest is 95 percent complete.  That’s almost two weeks ahead of a year ago and more than two weeks ahead of the five-year average.

The sunflower harvest is 77 percent done, and farmers in the state are also doing fall tillage, applying fertilizer, and hauling manure.

The first snowfall was reported last week, as well as a bit of rain.  But topsoil moisture supplies are 63 percent short to very short, and subsoil moisture supplies are rated 59 percent short to very short.
