Harvest close to wrapping up in Arkansas

Harvesting is almost wrapped up for Arkansas farmers.

USDA reporters say 94% of the cotton is harvested, all the rice is harvested, 93% of the soybeans are harvested, and 95% of the sweet potatoes are harvested.

Arkansas farmers continue to harvest peanuts, as 95% of the peanuts are dug and 75% have been harvested.

Winter wheat planting is continuing, with 63% of the crop planted and 30% now emerged.

Pasture conditions are still rough in Arkansas with only 6% of the pastureland rated good, but 22% fair, 36% poor and 36% very poor as more than half of the state’s soil moisture levels are short or very short.
