Harvest progressing nicely in Ohio

There was almost no slowdown in Ohio’s harvest activity last week, with good weather nearly every day.
The USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service reporter say producers gained a lot of ground on harvesting both soybeans and corn.
One problem commonly reported was new soybean shoots in already-harvested fields because of shattered beans and aborted pods.
As of Sunday, 35% of corn for grain and 95% of corn for silage has been harvested. The grain is coming in at about 19% moisture.
Seventy-six percent of the soybeans are in the bin.
Almost 82% of winter wheat is planted with 52% of it already emerged.
Ohio farmers are also cutting their last hay and doing some fall tillage.
