Harvest to begin any day for central Iowa farmer
A central Iowa farmer says he’s counting down the days to get started on harvest.
Corey Goodhue raises soybeans, corn, and hay near Carlisle. “It’s been a pretty wild growing season with the weather,” he said. “It’s been up and down, and then you throw the markets in there and it’s been a heck of a ride. I think we’re ready for harvest.”
He tells Brownfield drought conditions haven’t been an issue this year. “There’s going to be some great crops out there. We farm some low-lying ground and I think we’ll have a few acres that got zeroed out. You don’t always know what the impact of that is until the combine goes across it. I think that’s where our anxiety is, but otherwise I’m really excited.”
Goodhue says he’s also looking forward to getting results from some of his agronomic trials that can help with conservation decisions in 2025.
