Harvest underway in northwest Illinois
A northwestern Illinois farmer says harvest is underway in her area.
Ellen Rahn, who grows corn, soybeans, and cattle in Carroll County, tells Brownfield…
“A lot of guys started rolling this week, early this week.” She says, “There’s guys that are doing soybeans, guys doing corn. Corn yields seem to be trending great. I don’t want to jinx it, but things are looking positive.”
She says soybean moistures have been a surprise.
“They’re ready to go.” She says, “We’re harvesting a 2.5 soybean right now. Moistures seem to be dropping every day. Guys are trying to get after beans as fast as they can.”
Rahn says many are hoping a predicted rain this weekend materializes to put some moisture back into the soybeans.
