Have a plan to market the decent mid-MO soybean crop
The commercial manager of an ADM soybean processing plant says this week’s rains will likely solidify a good soybean crop across mid-Missouri.
Evan Larson says the soybeans aren’t perfect everywhere, but “if they get rains, maybe it will save them. Overall, the state of Missouri is looking at a big crop. It’s a matter of when you can take it to market or does the farmer have the space to carry it?”
Larson says farmers should be considering their marketing plans and soybean crush remains strong ahead of harvest.
“There’s enough of a crush margin in the forward outlook to provide support on basis versus a grain elevator or a river elevator. Soybean processors will stay in the market because they have to crush everyday and the basis should be supported in the forward outlook.”
Brownfield interviewed Larson at the Missouri State Fair.
