Hay harvest making progress in Missouri
The market news manager for the Missouri Department of Agriculture says hay harvest is advancing.
But, Tony Hancock tells Brownfield, “The hay looks good. It’s just awful mature.”
According to the USDA, 87 percent of pastures are rated good to excellent conditions and the first cutting of alfalfa is 29 percent complete.
He says producers should be watching their pastures closely.
There are some army worms in the state now, so guys definitely need to be on the lookout,” he says.
Hancock says dryer weather is expected in the upcoming weeks, which will allow producers to get a large majority of their hay harvested.
