Higher beef prices not slowing down consumer demand

Brownfield's Kellan Heavican interviews Tracey Erikson with Certified Angus Beef during NCBA's 2026 Young Cattleman's Conference.

Demand for beef remains strong despite higher retail prices.

Tracey Erickson, senior executive vice president for marketing with Certified Angus Beef, says cattle producers continue to deliver for consumers.

“They love the taste experience,” she says. “They love what it provides for their family from a nutritional standpoint.”

She says that the eating experience is extremely critical in sustaining demand.

“It’s more of a struggle getting those food dollars to stretch,” she says. “We need to make sure that beef experience is of value.”

She tells Brownfield, “It’s really important to offer options and to make sure that there are cuts that are more economically priced, so that we don’t have consumers that have to move away from beef as a category and from our brand in particular.”

Erickson says ground beef is the most popular option heading into the summer grilling season.
