Highley to serve as Indiana Farm Bureau 2nd VP

Indiana Farm Bureau has elected a new Second Vice President from Huntington County.

Janis Highley grows corn and soybeans with her family south of Fort Wayne and works as a risk advisor at Strategic Grain Hedge, LLC.

“These prices are really close to just break even or a little under for some of our farmers,” she says is a top concern. “So just being mindful, not only myself now in this new leadership role, but Farm Bureau, that we’re doing all we can to help our farmers have the tools they need to be successful.”

Highley tells Brownfield getting a farm bill passed and advocating on behalf of farmers will be priority areas in 2024.

“Because of my work as a risk advisor, I’m very passionate about the Title III part of the farm bill—trade,” she says.

Highley previously served as the District 4 education and outreach coordinator for the organization and also serves as a director on the Indiana Corn Marketing Council.
