Hinson frustrated with farm bill delays
U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says time is running out for lawmakers to pass a new five-year farm bill.
“I’m frustrated with the fact we haven’t been able to get that bill done,” she said. “It was due last year at this time. September 30th comes on the same date every year. We’ve known this was coming for some time.”
During a recent press call, the Iowa Republican said another extension of the 2018 Farm Bill is likely. “I will continue advocating to our leadership that even if we do have a specific time for an extension, we need to get moving on this bill as soon as possible. Our farmers need to access the programs they know and trust.”
Hinson says most of the delays have come from the U.S. Senate.
