Historic Minnesota 4-H building set for major modernization

Minnesota 4-H is partnering with the Minnesota State Fair to renovate the 4-H building on the fairgrounds.

Minnesota 4-H youth development state director Jennifer Skuza says the $35 million campaign will modernize the 85-year-old three story building.

“The first major renovation that we’re going to experience in that building. So what we’ve been focusing on right now is making sure we have a design put in place that is something that will work with 4-H’rs well into the future.”

She tells Brownfield Minnesota 4-H has grown more than 30 percent the past four years and currently serves 58,000 youth across the state.

“And having this 4-H building and the programming that’s going to happen in it, is going to take us to a whole next level where we’re going to have an opportunity to bring in more 4-H’ers into the program. Of course to serve more Minnesota youth.”

Skuza says exterior work is already underway and the renovation should be completed in time for the 2027 Minnesota State Fair.
