Kevin Kalb of Dubois, Indiana is the lone Hoosier winner in the NCGA National Corn Yield Contest. Kalb placed second in the AA Non-Irrigated category with a yield of 296.1144 bushels per acre. Kalb planted DEKALB DKC63-42.

Dale and Lisa Koester of Wadesville, Indiana have been named Indiana’s 2010 ASA/DuPont Young Leaders by the Indiana Soybean Alliance. The Koester’s farm with Dale’s brothers in Posey County, they raise soybeans, as well as yellow corn, food grade yellow corn, identity preserved food grade white corn, wheat, and alfalfa. The farm also includes a 200-head dairy operation. They also sell round bales of straw to a local factory that produces erosion control blankets.

The ASA/DuPont Young Leader Program identifies soybean farmers who are innovative, assertive, “young in leadership” and looking to make their mark in agriculture.

Trevor Glick of Bartholomew County has been elected vice president of the North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP) for a one-year term.

NCSRP was established in 1992 to coordinate soybean production research efforts on a regional level. NCSRP is comprised of the state soybean checkoff boards in Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Glick also serves as chair of the Indiana Soybean Alliance research and new uses committee.

Ed Cagney of Michigan was elected president and Mike Cerney of Wisconsin is now serving as secretary/treasurer of NCSRP.
