Horse slaughter bill now law in Montana

That legislation to allow investor-owned horse slaughter plants in Montana is now law. Itwent into effect when Montana governor Brian Schweitzer chose to neither sign nor veto the action. The law limits opportunities for legal action against such investors.

Other states are also considering legislation that would permit horse slaughter plants to operate.They include Georgia, Kentucky, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, Washington and Tennessee. There are also bills pending in the U.S. Congress.
