Hot and dry conditions still expected in Corn Belt

An atmospheric scientist with Nutrien Ag Solutions says hot and dry conditions are still coming for much of the Corn Belt.

“There’s something happening in the weather pattern that suggests this summer has more volatility in it.”

Eric Snodgrass says currently, the Mississippi River divides the outlook for July.

“If you’re west of the river, there’s a greater chance of being hot and drier. The axis of that are sections of the Canadian Praries through the Dakotas, Nebraska and down into Kansas. But the models are quite wet if you’re east of the Mississippi River.”

Snodgrass says he’s taking the weather outlook two weeks at a time, because the situation can always change.
