House Ag Committee prepares for climate hearing
The House Ag Committee is ready to act on climate issues.
Chairman David Scott says the House Ag Committee hearing today will address climate and agricultural and forestry sectors.
“Making sure we establish agriculture as that industry that needs and must be the leader and at the forefront when it comes at how we’re dealing with climate change and weather patterns,” he says.
Speaking during the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Winter Policy Conference, he says agriculture has to be included in any climate discussions.
“Because it is our food security,” he says. “…there’s no entity that is more impacted from climate as our farmers.”
The hearing is this afternoon. American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall is on the witness list along with North Dakota Farmer and Ranchers Gabe Brown and more.
