House rule links farm and nutrition programs

The U.S. House passed a rule Saturday that re-links farm programs and nutrition programs, which the House passed separately this year.

NFU president Roger Johnson says the action “should pave the way for a farm bill to be completed this year.” He added that extending the 2008 Farm Bill again “is not an adequate solution.” The extension runs out today.

Johnson – and others in the farming community – are urging House leaders to appoint conferees right away to begin the process of conferencing the Senate and House versions of a five-year farm bill.
