HPAI detected in two additional northwest Iowa dairy herds

More cases of H5N1 Influenza A have been reported in northwest Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says the virus was detected in dairy herds in Plymouth and Sioux counties. Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says he’s asking poultry and dairy producers to boost their biosecurity practices and protocols to help protect their flocks and herds. He says farmers or farm workers who interact regularly with both dairy and poultry should take extra precautions to limit possible transmissions.

Producers are asked to report suspected H5N1 cases to the agency by calling 515-281-5305.
