Ideal weather helps Kentucky harvest progress

Corn and soybean harvest in Kentucky continues with little disruption from rains.

Corn harvest is 79% complete.  Soybean harvest is 50% complete with 84% dropping leaves and 67% rated good to excellent. 

Tobacco 35% stripped, with 43% of the housed tobacco in good to excellent conditions.

Winter wheat is 32% planted with 10% emerged.

Rains would benefit pasture regrowth while temperatures are still relatively warm,  most are currently rated fair to good. Hay yields have varied this year and livestock will need to graze as long as possible.

Topsoil is 49% adequate and 2% surplus and subsoil is 50% adequate and 1% surplus.
