Illinois elects new state FFA officers

More than 3,000 blue and gold jackets were in Springfield this week for the 83rd Illinois FFA State Convention and last night delegates elected their new officer team.  Mike Shively, a 2011 graduate of Paxton-Buckley-Loda high school was elected President.  Joining Shively on this year’s officer team:  Jim Tobin of Farmer City, will serve as Vice-President, Christopher Steppig of Waterloo was elected Reporter, Jacob Meisner of the Southwestern FFA Chapter will serve as Secretary and Treasurer Clayton Carley of the Cissna Park FFA Chapter completes the officer team. 

 Each officer will put their collegiate career on hold for a year as they serve the Illinois FFA, traveling around the state visiting FFA Chapters, conducting workshops and representing Illinois members promoting agriculture education.
