Illinois Farm Bureau President encouraged by trade talks

Illinois Farm Bureau President Richard Guebert says the Trump administration’s trade talks with China and Japan this week have been encouraging.

“But, the devil is in the details, we’ve got to see it. We have heard this story before. We need to see actions of actual purchases being made.”

He tells Brownfield Illinois farmers are thankful for the second round of MFP payments which will bring some relief after a challenging year.

“We have some members out there who are really hurting. This is not going to make us whole, but we are very appreciative of an influx of cash to our farming operations to help us along.”

Brownfield interviewed Guebert at the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Farm Income and Innovations Conference in Normal, Illinois.
