Illinois Farm Business Farm Management names next CEO
The next CEO of Illinois Farm Business Farm Management (FBFM) says the organization is poised to help farmers through difficult financial times.
Scott Newport, of DeKalb, tells Brownfield…
“I am really excited for this opportunity.” He says, “My work with FBFM over the last 35 years has been a great experience. Excited to lead the organization forward to continued success and innovation and meeting the needs of our farm clients throughout the state.”
Illinois FBFM advises farmers in making business management decisions with consultants that act as unbiased advisors to the farmer.
Newport, who’ll transition from his regional vice president position, says it’s a critical time to track an operation’s financial health.
“We had record earnings in 2021 and ‘22, and then slightly lower earnings in ‘23.” He says, “It’s a much more sobering outlook with a lot of pressure on margins for 2024.”
Newport assumes the new role on August 1st, and takes over for current CEO, Bob Rhea, who’s filled the role for the past five years.
